PhysioMonkey (aka Alan)

  • That’ll be me, hello.

I’m a chartered physiotherapist working in the UK’s health service. I qualified back in 1999 and have been specialising in outpatient musculoskeletal work since 2002. My particular clinical interests include shoulder dysfunction, injury prevention and posture. All of these relate directly to juggling and other circussy stuff.

I’ve been a juggler since the mid 1990s and I’ve been attending conventions since the BJC in Edinburgh 1996.

This web project started way back in 2005 as a PowerPoint presentation that was due to be given as a workshop at the EJC in Ptuj. For various tedious reasons this did not happen and, as I’d done the work, I didn’t want to waste it. Hence this site.

The original site has now been discontinued and will be deleted reasonably soon.

Over the years I have run clinic sessions and workshops at the BJCs in Bodmin, Nottingham and Doncaster, the Scottish JC and at a number of smaller conventions.

So far workshops have included:

  • injury prevention.
  • posture - neck, back and shoulders.
  • shoulders - movement and control.
  • massage.

I refer you back to “How to Use” if you wish to put on such a workshop at your event.
